Job Description
<p>We are looking for a Part time (20 hours per week) <strong>Manual QA / Product Tester</strong> to support testing across the Status app and related product surfaces.The ideal person is detail-oriented, curious, and comfortable exploring mobile and desktop apps to identify functional issues, UI inconsistencies, UX friction, and unclear product flows.</p>
<h3><strong>Responsibilities:</strong></h3>
<ul>
<li>Exploratory testing of existing app features and reporting functional, UI, and UX issues based on guidance from the Product Lead.</li>
<li>Testing newly developed features and product improvements before release.</li>
<li>Testing features and retesting fixes in release builds when preparing new app releases.</li>
<li>Reproducing bugs and gathering useful details to help developers understand the issue, including steps to reproduce, screenshots, screen recordings, device information, and expected vs. actual behavior.</li>
<li>Working with QA automation engineers to ensure manually identified bugs are reviewed for automation where relevant.</li>
<li>Occasionally checking the website, Apple App Store, and Google Play product pages to make sure there are no obvious issues.</li>
<li>Reviewing product requirements for new features from a user perspective and flagging anything that feels unclear, confusing, or difficult to use.</li>
<li>Documenting how features work in the app based on hands-on exploration and testing.</li>
</ul>
<h3><strong>What we’re looking for:</strong></h3>
<ul>
<li>Experience with manual QA, product testing, app testing, or a strong interest in developing in this area.</li>
<li>Should be a strong mobile messenger app user. Experience with crypto wallets and mobile browsers is a strong plus.</li>
<li>Strong attention to detail and the ability to spot inconsistencies, bugs, or confusing user flows.</li>
<li>Clear written communication and the ability to document issues in a structured way.</li>
<li>A user-focused mindset and willingness to test features from the perspective of real users.</li>
<li>Comfort using and testing mobile and desktop applications.</li>
<li>Ability to follow testing guidance, ask good questions, and work collaboratively with Product, Engineering, and QA.</li>
<li>Curious about leveraging AI in manual and semi-manual testing to optimize and reduce repetitive QA work.</li>
</ul>
<h3><strong>Nice to have:</strong></h3>
<ul>
<li>Experience testing iOS, Android, desktop (Windows/MacOS), or web applications.</li>
<li>Familiarity with bug-tracking tools or release testing processes.</li>
<li>Experience writing documentation, test notes, or issue reports.</li>
<li>Interest in crypto, wallets, messaging apps, or privacy-focused products.</li>

<h3><strong>Compensation:</strong></h3>
<p>The expected compensation range for this role is 1000 USD per month, for 20 hours work, per week. We are happy to pay in any mix of fiat/crypto.</p>
